Trig: a Social Marketing Disrupter That’ll Save You Cash!

Trig: a Social Marketing Disrupter That’ll Save You Cash!

“Ray – you’ve got to come down to Wales and see the business we’ve got started in!”   It seems a long way back in time: that trek down to South Wales!  I had eventually agreed to go and see what my sister and brother in law had been on about. A social networking site that doesn’t make you change your habits and pays you back rather than paying Zuckerberg! At first my reaction had been sort of  “… oh no: a social media version of Kleeneze… a Facebook clone!” Frankly I didn’t really listen. After a couple more conversations, and a lot of questions I realised that if this thing could be persuaded to fly, there was a real chance of the people doing the social, actually getting something back for their time: and if...

What Happens When Networking Gives Social Media the Hump: Synkronice and Spinglo

Social Media Marketing is no longer a new wave. In the constantly evolving world of online commerce it’s a rapidly maturing channel for information, communication, interaction, selling, buying and customer service: you name it; it happens. Word of Mouse works just like good old fashioned word of mouth but with infinitely greater reach. People like sharing, after the stage of childhood snatch and grab, people like to connect with each other and share the useful, nonsensical and the downright daft. If there is a bargain or a revolution; social media is right in at the core of changing events. Witness Groupon and the Arab Spring. Social Media is a driver in all walks of life, leisure and learning. As social media has grown, the marketing community hasn’t...

Google Goes Social -Will We Like +1?

Google has jumped further into the Social Currency scene with the limited US launch of the +1 rating tool for its search engine.  Despite the limited release, it is possible for us interested folk in the UK to participate in this beta stage, by going to Google’s Experimental Labs where it is possible to join the experiment from one of your Google accounts and get early access to the new tool. It is very likely that this tool will be the precursor to Google going beyond its previous “social layers” in tools like Google Buzz, into a wholesale assault on Facebook’s turf.  Once the plus one tool is active, the Big G will be using that data to tweak its plans for the next big social network. This short video shows some of the details of the...

The Power of Social Media Doesn’t Die

Remember that saying? “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!” Well it’s not really a truism after all, that’s for sure. With the mushrooming of social media, most of us have an evidence trail as big as Watergate following and pointing us out. Stuff doesn’t seem to die on-line – in many cases unfortunately. I came across this video from Socialnomics other the other day and it sets out with references below it some incredibly important and life changing statistics. Including a little reminder about what the third biggest country in the world really is! I quote some of the statistics from Eric Qualman’s Socialnomics Blog below. Over 50% of the world’s population is under 30-years-old 96% of them have joined a social network...

Can You Make a Job? Don’t Miss the Local and Social Angle!

Though it didn’t come to my attention until the end of the actual week… last week was Enterprise Week in the UK.  It only got through to me when I turned up to meet David Thornley at the Chamber of Commerce to follow up on the Business Start Up course that I had been attending for the previous 3 weeks.  He pointed out during the session, that he’d just had an article published on the Lake District Messenger website, pointing out some of the key drivers that will emerge in the next few years as the government look to regrow the country’s economy from virtual scratch again.  In this article which David has kindly given permission for me to reprint below, he summarises some of the key findings of a report “Make a Job, Don’t Take a...

Good to See a Local Cumbrian Blog Making Progress

Good to See a Local Cumbrian Blog Making Progress

As I have slowly got my head around Linked In and the other useful social media sites, I discovered that there was indeed a Cumbrian group. After joining up and waiting till my membership approval came through, one of the first characters I noticed was Najeeda. This turned out to be half the story as Najeeda is in fact two women who seem to hang out in the South Lakes. They have got a very simple straight forward blog going and are providing some excellent information to subscribers. Worth a look… and no I don’t earn anything from the recommendation 😉 It is refreshing to see that the Cumbrian group on Linked In is very diverse and quite active.  Take a look at the Cumbrian Link Group Page The next event is a face to face meet up in Penrith organised...
